Yoeleo are one of the more popular factories out of China producing carbon wheels. You might have not hear of them, but they’ve been around a while and have built up quite a decent reputation of making decent quality wheels rivalling the more well known brands, only much, much cheaper. They now produce a massive range of wheels, accessories and frames.

We got our hands on the Yoeleo Sat T50 with DT Swiss 350 hubs – they come in a variety of depths and widths, including both tubular and clincher. These are the tubular version with a 50mm depth and with a 25mm wide rim, the U shaped rim profile will give you less rolling resistance, better cornering and of course, a more aero profile at different yaw angles. If you’re moving up from stock alloy rims, you’ll notice a huge difference. Just make sure you have 25/28mm rubber and your frame can handle the girth.

Despite the huge aero profile, these wheels are actually very light. Tipping our scales at around 1320g – much lighter than most ‘light’ alloy wheels. Very impressive indeed. The clincher version weighs a tad more due to the extra carbon layering around the braking surface.

Carbon wheels usually suffer from decreased braking capabilities over alloy rims, especially in the wet. Another problem which affects clinchers is the heat build-up from heavy braking. Clincher rims have to keep a huge amount of pressure in the tyres. When the resin heats up to a certain point, it will weaken and the rim will fail. Not something you want when you’re hurtling down a descent at 60kmh… To combat this, Yeoleo have added a  basalt braking surface which resists temperatures up to 300c, and also aids in braking performance.

First impressions

They came very well packaged direct from the factory in China using a tracked courier, we didn’t have to pay any import duty either. The wheels were very well packed  with foam inserts and caps on either side of the hub for crush protection.

They are very light, very stiff and very well made. There’s no noticeable difference between these than other wheelsets costing 10x the amount. The wheel build itself was flawless, running perfectly true with even spoke tension.

The full set of Yoeleo Carbon Wheels T50 will cost you 800USD – for that, you’ll get carbon brake pads, Ti QR skewers and valve extenders.

We can’t wait to get riding on these. Check back for updates once we’ve put them through some vigorous testing.
