A new cycling festival named ‘Orbital’ is to launch this July at the 2.4 mile long Goodwood Motor Circuit in Chichester.

Set to take over the venue from the 26th to 28th of July, a week after the conclusion of the Tour De France, the festival promises to cater for all ages and abilities of cyclist and will offer both racing and an exhibition area for bikes, apparel, parts and accessories.

There will be camping for all on the same dedicated site used for the Festival of Speed. Food and drink will be delivered by an on-site cycling cafe and from the Goodwood caterers using local organic produce.

Kicking off with a road race on the Friday evening, the weekend will offer attractions and demos from the likes of the Animal Bike Tour, roller racing, BMX flatland, as well as hosting interactive tracks for consumers to try out bikes for themselves. Further attractions are to be announced as the event approaches. The venue and racetrack will open to the public from 4pm on the Friday afternoon.

Appreciating that many cycling events are enjoyable for some members of the family but not others, the organisers have designed the Orbital Cycling Festival with something for everyone. There will be balance bikes for the under-5’s and the kids will be totally safe and contained in an inflatable play track. Stepping up the age groups to 6 to 10 year old’s, there will be Go-Ride training delivered by qualified coaches. Disabled riders and para-cyclists will feel at home in the all-inclusive riding environment and will be encouraged to join in with the fun. Priority parking for the disabled, or riders in recovery, is offered right next to the race track.

For those that feel like cycling through the night from London, Look Mum No Hands have organised an overnight randonée ‘Cafe to Cafe’ ride, leaving at 9pm Friday and arriving at around 7am Saturday. Check out the following links for more info!
