London’s Calling is an annual event for bicycle messengers and cyclists from London and all over the world to race, have fun and to raise money for the London Courier Emergency Fund.

Most couriers are self-employed and as such are not entitled to any sick pay if they get injured. It is a dangerous and poorly-paid job, and many of those who get hurt soon find themselves in dire financial straits, so the LCEF tries to help them financially.

It’s a great event to raise money for a much needed reserve for these guys should they have an accident, and this years event was a great success, with over 40 people racing in the alleycat. There were plenty of other unruly shenanigans as expected, track stands and rollapaluza included.
