In 2015, the last piece of the Antwerp Sportpaleis’ old wooden cycling track was destroyed due to renovations. The wood that Ockers and Merckx used to cycle on was disposed of for good. Two days were acquired to save as much of the cycling track as possible. The result is a series of 28 unique tables.
The design is based on the characteristic roof of the Sportpaleis. The construction of steel trusses inspired the lines of the bent and rolled metal shape that is the frame of the table. The distinctive character of the wood was preserved in the best possible way. Every piece of this series is defined by its’ own unique (finish) lines, old repairs and scratches.
